VMI Community Updates
Institute leadership continues to communicate important information for cadets, their families, faculty & staff, and the VMI community at-large:
- The December 2024 Institute Report is now available. Story highlights include Founders Day, Ring Figure, faculty achievements, and a feature on the winner of the prestigious Three-Legged Stool Award.
- The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2025-2026 is now live. Explore the Office of Financial Aid site to find information on how the FAFSA is used to determine need, how to apply for financial aid, and additional funding opportunities.
- VMI's NCAA cadet-athletes will continue to 'Compete to Win' over winter furlough. A full schedule of athletic events is available on vmikeydets.com. We encourage fans to support our Keydets home and away over the break.
- Virginia Military Institute has a proud history of producing educated and honorable leaders, individuals ready to face challenges head on and succeed thanks to our unique system of education within a military setting. Ready to learn more? Prospective cadets are encouraged to attend an on-post open house offered by the Office of Admissions. Already convinced? Applications are open for Fall 2025 enrollment.

VMI Holds December Commissioning and Graduation
A seasonally cool morning warmed into a day full of happiness and celebration in a crowded Memorial Hall at Virginia Military Institute, as families and friends gathered to witness 38 cadets cross the stage to receive their diplomas during the commencement ceremony Dec. 19.
Building BRIDGES Cadets Participate in Wreaths Across America
Cadets in the Building BRIDGES Club, in collaboration with Remembering Rockbridge Veterans (RRV), laid wreaths on the headstones of veterans buried in Evergreen Cemetery, a historical Black cemetery in Lexington, as part of the Wreaths Across America program.
Building BRIDGES Club Hosts Holiday Card Workshop
The Building BRIDGES Club, in collaboration with the Office of Diversity, Opportunity and Inclusion, and Preston Library at Virginia Military Institute, hosted a holiday card making event Dec. 9 in the post exchange.
College Debates and Discourse Program Flourishes
The College Debates and Discourse Program at Virginia Military Institute continued its development throughout the fall semester, beginning with a partnership with the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia and the national College Debates and Discourse Alliance.
